Off-Site Construction

Contact us

Off-site construction is a growing market and is changing the way buildings are constructed in the UK.

Whether it is a complete building, a building element or a modular construction PIR and PUR insulation is at the heart of ensuring that buildings are as energy efficiency as they can be.  In the drive to build better buildings faster, modular buildings, structural insulated panels and self-supporting panels for roof construction, which are all pre-insulated have a huge role to play in the future of construction.

Modular construction

Modular construction involves assembling complete buildings using individual factory-built modules. These modules, usually steel framed, are manufactured under factory controlled conditions meaning that construction is not affected by poor weather or adverse site conditions. The modules are fully fitted with all electrics, plumbing, heating and internal finishes before leaving the factory. Once completed, the modules are transported to site by road, and then craned into position. Modules are connected on site to create complete buildings for a variety of different occupancy types, which can be of any size and have multiple storeys.

Structurally insulated panel solutions (SIPs)

Structurally insulated panel solutions allow whole buildings to be built in factory conditions and assembled on site.  The panels are pre–cut to provide an exact match for design specifications, with a complete kit being delivered to site ready for erection.

Key benefits of off-site construction

  • Excellent thermal performance
  • Fast installation
  • Engineered solutions
  • Reduced waste
  • Less time spent on site
  • Able to meet and exceed Building Regulation thermal performance requirements

Manufacturers’ products will offer different benefits depending on the application. For full details users should refer to the manufacturer’s third party certification.
